Detoxification refers to the removal of toxic substance from human body by various methods. Detoxification takes place through various organs of the human body like lungs, liver, kidney and skin. Detoxification is also done by other methods like zeolite supplementation, acupuncture detoxification and chelation therapy.
Our Internal Detox System:
Our body already contains its own Detox System. The function of the liver, lungs, kidney and skin is to remove any harmful substance from the blood stream. Lungs detoxify by exhaling. Liver breaks down the toxins into smaller compounds that are then cleaned by the skin and the kidneys. As our toxic burden increases (the amount of toxins accumulating in our body), our own detox system may not be enough. Fortunately, we can give our body a detox assist.

Liquid Zeolite for Detox:
This is a mineral formed from volcanic ash and sea water. The result is a negatively charged ion which has a strong affinity for lead, mercury, cadmium, heavy metals and dioxins. It will not remove calcium and other beneficial nutrients because they are too large too fit inside the honeycomb cage structure of the zeolite molecule. There are very few side effects associated with liquid zeolite, the main one is dehydration which is easily overcome with proper fluids. It is easy to take and less expensive than traditional therapies. There is however, a strong difference between brands of liquid zeolite on the market, so please do your due dilligience. The proper formulation of liquid zeolite is one that is micronized to a very small particle size so that it can also pass through the blood stream, rather than just the digestive track. This gives you a systemic whole body detox, not just a detox of the digestive track, a huge benefit! Chelation Therapy
This is a serious medical treatment initiated by a physician. It uses powerful chelating agents to remove metal ions from the body. Chelating agents that are used for detoxification are:
D-Penicillamine
Deferosamine
EDTA : Dietheylene triamine pentaacetic acid
DMSA : Dimercaptosuccinic acid
BAL : British Anti Lewisite
DMPS : Dimercapto-propane sulfonate
ALA: Alpha lipoic acid
Ca Na2 EDTA : Calcuium disodium versante Deferoxamine
Problems with Chelation Thereapy:
Chelation therapy is effective, but it does have side effects. The downside of chelation therapy is that it can also remove some positive substances from the body, such as calcium. It is also an expensive medical procedure requiring monitoring by a physician skilled in chelation therapy.
Detox Diet.
This is a dietary course in which food consumption habits are changed to remove toxins and contaminants from the body. Proponents of this method claim improved health, vitality, immunity, weight loss etc.
The various methods used are:
Caloric restriction.
Increased consumption of certain types of fish like salmon.
Fasting methods like water fasting and juice fasting.
Consuming certain herbs.
Advocates of this method focus on a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, Drinking 8-10 glasses of water and limiting alcohol is also recommended. While I certainly recommend following a healthy diet for its many benefits, I don’t know that this change ALONE is enough to bring strong detox results. I would recommend adding this to another method such as Liquid Zeolite therapy.
Conclusion:
Detoxification is done by various established methods like zeolite therapy, acupuncture, chelation therapy etc. Each of these has its place, but I have found that Liquid Zeolite is quite effective for heavy metal detox, plus it is easy to take, has a proven safety profile, is well tolerated, and relatively inexpensive. A few dollars a day to remove these toxins from my body is certainly well worth it to me.
